First, the easiest way to jailbreak your Apple device is by using tools like iFunbox. This is the jailbreaking tool of my choice although there are many out there. It will depend on what device you have and what version of the OS you are running so double check all that and find the most compatible jailbreaking software.
Jailbreaking your iPhone or iPad can be a scary experience but it’s rather straight-forward. We will create our own guide that shows you how to do this in a simple 5-steps but there are many existing walkthroughs you can follow and accomplish the same goal.
Once your mobile device is jailbroken, you will have an app called Cydia installed on your phone. This is the gateway to all things the jailbreaking has to offer and how you will be able to play PSX games on your iPhone. There are many PSX emulators available and one of my favorite to use is PPSSPP, which does a perfect emulation for original PSP console. Another solid PSX emulator is called RetroArch Playstation Emulator. Both are straightforward to install and use.
Now, the part that most readers seem to have difficulties are on how to acquire the games to play. PSX games come in ISO formats. We aren’t going to go into legality of using PSX ISO on your phone but do educate yourself on the legality of using PSX game roms. There are many game ISO and rom sites that you can use to acquire the games but we won’t mention any here. Just want to say that it is easy to find them and with help of iFile, easy to load up too.
Once you have jailbroken your phone and have acquired the game ISOs to play, your job is done. All that is left now to do is play your favorite PSX games on iPhone and iPad. After having extensively played PSX games on iPhone 6, I can say that the emulators run perfectly and it has seriously expanded the catalogues of games I can play on my iPhone.
